"Thanks again for all your hard work, my son James had great fun helping with this and doing all the arts and crafts and clay figures over the 4 weeks (Kilmarnock Summer Madness)."

Spider Arts in the Community

Spider Arts in the Community“Only through art can we emerge from ourselves and know what another person sees.” Marcel Proust

Spider Arts community projects are specially designed with the needs of the communities in which we work in mind and that of the people who live there. We have a number of projects for different groups including babies and toddlers; children and young people; and adults.

It is the primary aim of Spider Arts to make the arts more ‘available’ to communities in the South Side of Glasgow and to the individuals and groups that will benefit from them most.

We aim to improve the quality of life of those who participate in our projects, by providing positive, creative opportunities for them to socialise and gain new skills.

When we identify a ‘need’ in a particular community, we seek to come up with a creative solution; involving local partners wherever possible. Through our work we will always aim to empower participants to take ownership of the project and play an active part in how it is run and operated. No-one knows their community better than the people who live there, therefore there is no-one better to take charge of what happens there!

“We have no hope of solving our problems without harnessing the diversity, the energy, and the creativity of all our people.” Roger Wilkins

Our community projects are funded in part, through income generated by Spider Arts at Home projects, fundraising and grant funding.

For information about our current community projects, check out our Events Diary or feel free to Contact us. We also welcome any ideas or suggestions you may have for future projects or collaborations.
