"Excellent - from booking to delivery! The face painting and balloon modelling were fantastic - I have never seen such beautiful face art and the balloons - there'll have been a few spectacular Octopus and Unicorns around Glasgow this weekend! The creative clay was also very ... creative! Thank you very much for our attending our charity event and entertaini ng our children."

Art Therapy

Spider Arts provide a bespoke art therapy service, for each young person and every unique setting we work in. We offer one to one and group art therapy to a range of organisations and in various settings including: hospitals, schools, community groups, voluntary and statutory sector organisations. We work with children, young people, families and professionals.

Art has the power to heal and transform people's lives!

Stress and trauma can have a significant and lasting impact on our body, mind, emotions and behaviour. Engaging in creative activities reduces stress hormones such as cortisol, improving brain function and stimulating the production of helpful brain chemicals:

  • Oxytocin, the ‘love’ hormone, helping us feel safe and connected
  • Serotonin, the ‘mood-stabiliser’ hormone, to help us feel calm and relaxed
  • Dopamine, the ‘reward’ hormone, which helps us feel content and fulfilled
  • Endorphins, the body’s natural ‘pain-killers’, to help us release stress and pain

A single art therapy session can significantly reduce stress levels, allowing participants to process traumatic experiences and begin to heal.

Our art therapy programme aims to improve health and emotional wellbeing by providing support through regular sessions with a fully qualified Art Therapist,
who will help their participants to creatively explore thoughts and feelings that
are troubling them.

We offer:

One-to-one art therapy sessions: The Art Therapist will support individuals to express themselves creatively within a safe and confidential space.

Group art therapy sessions: The Art Therapist(s) will support a small group of people, who are experiencing difficulties, to externalise these creatively and express themselves through art-making.

Dyadic therapy sessions: The Art Therapist will work together with a child and their parent/caregiver, to focus on developing their relationship through art-making and creative play.

COMING SOON! Our fully equipped mobile art therapy studio called the Calmbulance will come to you!

All our therapists are:

  • Professionally qualified Art Therapists
  • Registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Full members of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT)
  • Members of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme
  • Fully insured
